We had a fantastic time in this beautiful house. Everything was perfect! Annette is a wonderful host — she provides you with all the information and tips you need and is willing to do everything to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The house is beautifully decorated and fully equipped with everything you could need. Everything is of excellent quality: great mosquito screens on all windows and doors, thick towels and pool towels, a heated swimming pool, a boma and braai, and even a gas BBQ. There was a welcome package, herbs and spices, tea and coffee, and so much more — plus plenty of privacy. And of course, all the animals around the house made it extra special. There were also two bowls to fill with water, which attracted even more wildlife. We gave it 5 stars because it absolutely deserves them!
Thank you so much for your review, Danny and Petra. We are so happy that you enjoyed your time at Nkanyi House. We hope to host you again in the future. Annette and Ed
We loved our time at Nkanyi, our second visit to this wonderful home in the bush just outside Hoedspruit. Our hosts ensured everything was looked after and no comfort was spared. The three lovely bedrooms were perfect. It was so nice to awaken to the sounds of birds and visiting Nyala. The pool provided a cooling respite to the heat after long game drives in nearby Kruger Park. Thanks for sharing your slice of paradise with us......the Vickers Family...
Thanks for the lovely review, David. We love repeat guests and are so happy that you and your family enjoyed your stay at Nkanyi House.
We had an amazing time at Nkanyi house and can't wait to go again. Leaving Joburg the instruction for arrival were clear, we met with the estate agent and were given keys right on time. There is plenty of information regarding the house, the reserve and the surrounding area. Annette and Ed are wonderful hosts. The house is absolutely fantastic in a beautiful location with everything you need. We loved the outdoor shower option and the heated pool was perfect for sundowners. It was truly special to see all the animals walking past the house. It felt like my husband and I were all alone in the world at times. Really can't wait to visit again a do some more exploring!!
We absolutely loved our time at Nkanyi House. The house is very well equipped with everything you may need for an enjoyable holiday. For us the peace and quiet of the Zandspruit Estate was just what we needed.
Thank you for your review, Angie . We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. Wishing you and your family a joyous new year. Annette
From start to finish the visit to Nkanyi House was outstanding. The home amenities met our needs. The extras (pool, daily wildlife) made our stay special. Our base at Nkanyi House was a significant part of our unique experience in visiting South Africa. A place to have a glass of wine, sit in the pool and remember driving with a herd of elephants in Kruger. John
Delighted with the property and for the abundance of information that covered absolutely everything. The bedrooms were generous and there was plenty of storage space. Great showers. Kitchen and utility had everything you need and we made use of the dishwasher and washing machine. Followed instructions from Les to ensure that we did not trip the solar panels! The outside area is comfortable and there is a choice of cooking locations. For ease, we used the gas bbq. Plenty of seating. Boma area was nice but can get a little breezy. Location is excellent for accessing Hoedspruit and meat from Fat Franks is a must! Bought great value fillet steak, Kudu fillet and biltong at bargain prices. In terms of accessing the Kruger, it's quite a long but simple 50 minute drive to reach the Orpen gate. Saw lions, buffalo, spotted hyenas, herds of elephants, and a distant leopard. Definitely best to drive near water holes at this dry time of year and use the park sightings board or sightings app. Also easy access to 3 Rondavels / Blyde / God's Window etc which is about 45 minutes from the property. Would highly recommend a visit to Moholoholo which was informative and they have a diverse range of rescued predators. Overall, a very enjoyable stay.
World class homely exciting place for your foreign traveller and your local that love the bush.you cannot get more up close and personal with the wildlife. They are part of your experience. The place is fantastic and caters for your every need. Best beds, linnen, bath robes...you name it They have thought of everything. Thank you for a wonderful experience.xxx
A beautiful relaxing place to stay- close to shops and amenities but feels like you’re miles from anywhere. A great bushland setting with modern comforts. Loved lying by the pool listening to all the Bush noises and seeing the occasional giraffe or nyala wander past. Annette and Ed were amazing hosts and provided some fabulous local tips. We would definitely recommend this gorgeous house for anyone looking for a relaxing bush break.
It was an amazing house. Everything was perfect. Everything was in the house and we love Less. He’s a nice person and we can ask him everything. When we arrived at nkanyi house there was wine for us and also a card to Welcome us. We love this place en would say dankie dankie dankie for this nice vacation!!!!!
Nkanyi House is the perfect holiday getaway and our family relished every minute we had there. The house is extremely well appointed and great care has been taken from the smallest detail to the elegant, yet unpretentious furnishings and top-notch appliances (we loved the light fittings over the dining table -- very creative!). The outdoor showers were wonderful and the high-quality towels and linens were greatly appreciated. The pictures on the website are stunning but in person, it is even more impressive. We loved the patio with the comfortable chairs and loungers and spent many early mornings sipping our coffee and watching the loeries, and other birds landing in the bird bath which is strategically placed on the low wall. Thank you so much for having the Roberts bird book to refer to when we couldn't identify some of the birds. The kitchen is very well equipped and we enjoyed cooking at home in the evening and relaxing outside afterwards next to the fire. We did not use the gas BBQ but the charcoal one worked like a charm and we enjoyed braaing sosaties bought from the recommended local butcher. Booking Nkanyi House was very simple (as was the payment system) and Nanette provided excellent recommendations on what to do in the region, where to buy our groceries and which restaurants to visit. The on-site manager, Sue, went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable and the house was spotless when we arrived. The delicious local coffee and a bottle of wine awaiting our arrival along with a lovely note, was very thoughtful. The solar power system worked very well and it was great to see such a sophisticated recycling system. The Zandspruit Estate is beautifully kept and the homes are far away enough from one another to not feel crowded in or disturbed by your neighbors. Apparently a family of wild dogs was on the estate when we were there and we saw hundreds of vultures one evening circling overhead and devouring the remains of an impala left in the river bed. Our family has rented many homes via VRBO, AirBnB and other online platforms, but Nkanyi House will go down as one of our favorites. Our only complaint was that five days wasn't long enough and next time we'd like to stay for at least a week or more. We visited Kruger one day and on the advice of the property manager did some lovely hikes in the Blyde River Canyon. However, it was very hard to drag ourselves away from the property and one day everyone voted to stay at the house and read books, lounge by the gorgeous pool and soak in the pink-tinged Drakensberg mountains in the distance and the amber hues of the bush. Thanks so much Annette and Ed for opening up your home and allowing us to enjoy its elegant beauty in such a tranquil setting. Sue, David, Alex and Oliver
